Slide-out maintenance is easier than most people think. These massive boxes that slide in and out require regular maintenance and upkeep to continue working properly.
Visually inspect the roof whenever you’re closing the slide out. Make sure it’s clean and free of any debris, sticks, rocks, and branches will always cause you problems. Debris will tear up your seals and roof but a soft bristle broom will clean them easily.
Spraying some rubber seal protector on a towel and wiping both side seals from top to bottom and across the top seal will protect your seals for many years. I recommend repeating this for the inside rubbers seals as well.
Depending on the type of slide-out, you might have gear tracks below the slide, cables on the side, or a schwintek rail on the side. Each needs inspection and lubrication. Use the slide-out dry lube to lubricate your specific type of slide out. The key is rust prevention, lubricate well and often.
