Fire Extinguishers

Fire Extinguishers – Powder and Foam

Not all fire extinguishers are the same.  I keep both the powder base along with Fire Gone foam-based inside and out.  I place them throughout the rig with easy access.  I shake up my powder based extinguishers frequently so they don’t get packed at the bottom.

Much like powder-based, Fire Gone is foam-based and can be used for Class A, B, and C fires just like powder.  The powder does not cool the fire, so it can re-ignite.  Powder extinguishers can also create a loss of visibility and may create breathing problems.  Foam is recommended for inside use as a more versatile solution.

Class A – fires involving solid materials such as wood, paper, or textiles.
Class B – fires involving flammable liquids such as petrol, diesel, or oils.
Class C – fires involving gases.
